Film Screening and Discussion: "Automotive" – Digitalization, Migration, and Health in the World of Work

As part of the EU-OSHA campaign “Healthy Workplaces” 2023–2025, Safe and healthy work in the digital age, the event “Automotive – Digitalization, Migration, and Health in the World of Work” is taking place on 9 September 2025 in Hamburg. Organized in cooperation with the Advisory Office for Work & Health and the contact point Perspektive Arbeit & Gesundheit (PAG), it aims to address how digital transformation and globalization are reshaping work—and what this means for occupational health, especially in precarious and migrant-dependent sectors.

At the core of the event is the documentary Automotive (2020), recipient of the Healthy Workplaces Film Award. The film follows two women—one a temporary worker on an assembly line, the other a corporate recruiter for automation experts—whose lives reflect the uncertainties of work in the digital era. Their stories offer a starting point for broader reflections on technological change and its health-related consequences.

The event pursues several objectives: to raise awareness of emerging health risks linked to digitalization and migration; to foster interdisciplinary dialogue between research, institutions, and trade unions; to reflect on job insecurity and structural inequalities; and to promote strategies for sustainable, inclusive, and safe working conditions.

Target audience includes professionals from occupational health and safety, HR, labour policy, academia, trade unions, and NGOs, as well as policymakers and other stakeholders engaged in shaping the future of decent work.
