Colloquium on OSH in the digital age: Best practice and innovative strategies for Belgium

As digitalisation continues to reshape workplaces across Belgium, ensuring good occupational safety and health (OSH) is becoming increasingly complex yet important. In response to this, SPF Emploi, Travail et Concertation Sociale – FOD Werkgelegenheid, Arbeid en Sociaal Overleg has decided to bring together OSH professionals, employers, employees and policymakers in a colloquium that will explore best practices and strategies for managing safety in the digital work environment.

While innovations like task automation, artificial intelligence (AI) and remote work can improve productivity, efficiency and flexibility, they also introduce new risks to workers' safety and wellbeing, such as surveillance or increased stress. The colloquium will therefore provide an examination of how digital tools can enhance workplace safety while addressing the challenges. Experts in the field will present data and case studies illustrating the impact of technology on workers' OSH, helping attendees better understand how to mitigate emerging risks.

One of the key aspects of this event is its emphasis on sharing best practices. Participants will learn from case studies highlighting successful integration of digital tools, such as wearable technology to monitor workers' physical health or AI to predict and prevent accidents.

The Belgian Good Practice Awards will also be presented. They recognise outstanding contributions to OSH in the context of digital transformation. The recipients, who have demonstrated excellence in the integration of technology to improve workplace safety, will serve as examples for others in the industry.
