Exploring ethics, artificial intelligence and the human dimension of work in Italy

Digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) in particular offer numerous opportunities to improve safety and health at work. However, their ethical and moral challenges must be carefully examined. An event hosted by Istituto Nazionale per l'Assicurazione contro gli Infortuni sul Lavoro, our Italian focal point, explores this topic.

A round table discussion brings together representatives from institutions, professional and business associations and trade unions to analyse the limits of AI, with a particular focus on safeguarding privacy and ensuring that technological progress respects workers’ rights.

Taking place in Agrigento, the Italian Capital of Culture 2025, the event includes a literary moment with selected readings about work in 19th-century Sicily, portraying the lives of farmers and ‘carusi’, child mine labourers who endured harsh and dangerous conditions.

Moderator:

  • Elvira Terranova, Journalist

  • Francesco Miccichè, Mayor of Agrigento
  • Salvatore Caccamo, Prefect of Agrigento
