In a bid to foster safer and healthier workplaces, members of the UEMS Occupational Medicine Section, the official campaign partner of the Healthy Workplaces Campaign 2023-25 'Safe and healthy work in the digital age', gathered during their spring meeting in Slovenia to discuss ways to enhance collaboration for occupational health and bridge the gap between occupational medicine specialists and relevant policy stakeholders in Europe.

The event, held from 5 to 7 April, featured presentations from the UEMS, as well as Tim Tregenza, EU-OSHA Senior Network Manager, and several other campaign partners, including the European Trade Union Confederation and BusinessEurope. Stakeholder representatives shared diverse perspectives on occupational health challenges and potential cooperation with the UEMS Occupational Medicine Section, outlining their expectations.

EU-OSHA’s expert highlighted the challenges of safeguarding the occupational health of all workers, at the same time, drawing attention to vulnerable groups such as women, older, migrant, low-qualified workers and those in informal employment. Mr. Tregenza discussed EU-OSHA’s initiatives and the Agency’s collaboration with UEMS, which, among other aspects, encompasses partnership in the Healthy Workplaces Campaign.

The session was followed by a discussion and the formation of an ad-hoc working group seeking to further explore collaboration among the UEMS, social partners, the EU Commission, and the Agency, identify shared challenges and develop collaborative proposals.

EU-OSHA boasts an extensive network of partners and stakeholders. The campaign pledges and activities can be explored within dedicated profiles.
