Advanced robotic systems for inspection and maintenance of gas and oil infrastructure (ID10)
To prioritise the occupational safety and health (OSH) of its workers, the state-owned and - operated Norwegian gas infrastructure company has implemented robotic technologies.
Previously, the inspection and maintenance of gas and oil infrastructure was carried out manually, exposing workers to the hazards of operating inside a pressure vessel.
Now, the company utilises two robotic systems. Retaining full control of both robotic systems as they operate externally, workers have acquired novel skills. An updated OSH checklist reflects the demands of this new reality.
