Promoting ‘Safe and healthy work in the digital age’ in Varna

EU-OSHA's focal point in Bulgaria, Ministry of Labour and Social Policy (Bulgaria), has joined forces with the Confederation of Labour Podkrepa to shed light on the Healthy Workplaces Campaign in Varna province.

Representatives from the trade unions, enterprises, labour organisations, local government and other institutions will have the opportunity to learn more about the challenges and opportunities of occupational health and safety (OSH) in the context of digitalisation.

Speakers will present the goals of the campaign and further EU action on the topic, as well as the risks identified when working with , such as increased work intensity and reduced control and autonomy.

Other sessions will emphasise the importance of worker participation in risk assessments and the legal responsibilities of employers to ensure safety and health when implementing digital work practices, including the right to disconnect to prevent overwork in an increasingly digitalised world.

AI-based systems can be purely software-based, acting in the virtual world (e.g. voice assistants, image analysis software, search engines, speech and face recognition systems) or AI can be embedded in hardware devices (e.g. advanced robots, autonomous cars, drones or Internet of things applications). , such as increased work intensity and reduced control and autonomy.
