People with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs) experience more restrictions in workplace participation compared to people in the general population across nearly all European countries. As one of the leading causes of disability in the EU, RMDs account for up to 60% of prolonged sickness absence and work disability. Because of this, it is vital for the EU to help adapt the workplace to ensure increased healthy and sustainable participation in work. At EULAR, we are proud to partner with EU-OSHA on ensuring that we can minimise the employment gap and optimise employment opportunities among people with RMDs.
