Created in 1905, FIEC represents construction companies of all sizes (from the large international group to the small family business and craftsmen) carrying out all types of building and civil engineering activities via its 33 national Member Federations in 28 different countries (25 EU and Norway, Switzerland and Ukraine).

Promoting health and safety at the workplace remains a key priority for construction companies. This include mental health and psychosocial risks, which affect many people across all Member States. The mental well-being of construction worker is of great importance, and many measures have been already put in place to address this issue. At FIEC, we have been working on the topic for many years together with our trade union counterpart through our Social Dialogue, developing prevention and management tools tailored to the specific needs of the construction industry. In addition, since 2026, FIEC has also been coordinating the EU-funded project "Mind at Work", in partnership with the European Employers' Institute, which aims to equip employers' organisations with the knowledge, tools, and policy guidance necessary to prevent and manage psychosocial risks effectively. In this respect the EU-OSHA Campaign provides a valuable framework, that will help us continue to progress towards our goal of making construction sites healthier and safer.
