Unmanned aerial vehicles: implications for occupational safety and health

Use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is growing across all sectors thanks to their distinctive features and promise of more efficient work processes. Nevertheless, their integration in workplaces also presents challenges for occupational safety and health (OSH).

This discussion paper explores related issues and identifies research gaps with a view to advancing the literature on OSH concerns and implications for workers interacting with UAVs. Recommendations for stakeholders are provided that target resolution of workplace problems and may also guard against slowing down developments in the field.
