From work planning to collaboration: How digital technologies and AI can support professional care in rural areas

Background
The professional care of people who are ill or otherwise in need of help is a central social task currently carried out by around 1.9 million employees daily. Nursing work involves a variety of physical and mental demands. Digital technologies and can help to avoid unfavorable stress or counteract the negative consequences of this, such as musculoskeletal complaints or impaired recovery due to excessive time pressure. Over the past few years, numerous such applications have been developed for professional care, which offers opportunities for a humane work organization but can also pose new challenges. The workshop will provide initial insights into existing advancements in this field.

We want to provide an overview of currently available digital and AI-supported systems and their application options in professional care. At the same time, we want to discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with their use from the point of view of science and practice and work with you to identify the systems' potential and the need for optimization and further development.

Target group
Nursing practitioners are invited, especially managers and multipliers with a professional focus on creating safe and healthy working in nursing who are interested in using digital technologies in nursing or are planning to use them.

Digital technologies and (AI) AI refers to systems that display intelligent behaviour by analysing their environment and taking actions – with some degree of autonomy – to achieve specific goals. AI-based systems can be purely software-based, acting in the virtual world (e.g. voice assistants, image analysis software, search engines, speech and face recognition systems) or AI can be embedded in hardware devices (e.g. advanced robots, autonomous cars, drones or Internet of things applications). can help to avoid unfavorable stress or counteract the negative consequences of this, such as musculoskeletal complaints or impaired recovery due to excessive time pressure.
