Using technologies to prevent risks in the workplace: how can AI, smart devices and other digital tools help?

An event hosted by our Belgian focal point, SPF Emploi, Travail et Concertation Sociale – FOD Werkgelegenheid, Arbeid en Sociaal Overleg, focuses on good practices for occupational safety and health (OSH), in particular those involving digital technologies.

Speakers cover a range of topics, including the potential benefits of using for prevention efforts in the workplace, how digitalisation and smart systems can improve safety in work environments using explosives, the use of drones for inspecting hard-to-reach areas, as well as smart to prevent injuries.

An expert facilitates blended learning by using a game to conduct a simulation with participants.

Moderators:

  • Frank Dehasque, FoP
  • Véronique Crutzen, Board member

AI-based systems can be purely software-based, acting in the virtual world (e.g. voice assistants, image analysis software, search engines, speech and face recognition systems) or AI can be embedded in hardware devices (e.g. advanced robots, autonomous cars, drones or Internet of things applications). for prevention efforts in the workplace, how digitalisation and smart systems can improve safety in work environments using explosives, the use of drones for inspecting hard-to-reach areas, as well as smart Wearables are electronic devices with sensors and computational capacity (e.g. smart watches, data glasses, or other devices with embedded sensors or tags), which can be placed on different body parts to gather data to be fed into other digital systems for processing purposes. They can be used to analyse physiological and psychological data such as feelings, sleep, movements, heart rate, body temperature and blood pressure, via applications either installed on the device itself or on external devices, such as smartphones connected to the cloud. to prevent injuries.
