Empowering workplaces: An afternoon of knowledge, OSH and innovation
A diverse group of professionals will gather in Utrecht to exchange knowledge and strengthen networks across various sectors.
An event hosted by our Dutch focal point, TNO Prevention, Work & Health, will focus on several key themes related to workplace safety, innovation and employee wellbeing, all delivered through an exciting lineup of sessions and workshops.
Kicking off the afternoon will be an inspirational lecture on the importance of prevention in the workplace. This talk, delivered by a leading expert in movement and workplace health, will set shed light on how simple but effective strategies can help improve safety and health in various professional environments.
Participants will have the chance to attend several break-out sessions, each focused on a different aspect of workplace safety.
One of the most intriguing sessions is titled ‘100 Ways to Die at Work’, where participants will be challenged to rethink how information about dangerous substances is presented. In this light-hearted but informative workshop, attendees will learn to recognise hazard symbols and improve workplace safety.
In another session, titled ‘The Accident Investigation’, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how quickly accidents can occur and the valuable lessons that can be drawn from investigating them. Experts will guide attendees through real-world scenarios, illustrating the importance of learning from incidents to create safer working environments in the future.
For those interested in technological innovation, the session on ‘The Exoskeleton: Research and Practice’ will provide a fascinating look at how exoskeletons can assist in physically demanding jobs. With a live demonstration, attendees will be able to witness first-hand how these devices could offer a solution to reducing strain and injury for workers in labour-intensive roles.
Rounding off the afternoon, the workshop ‘Good Practices: Sustainable Employability’ will delve into the relationship between management styles and employee autonomy. This session will highlight the insights gathered from the MDIEU programme, which focuses on promoting long-term vitality and sustainability in the workforce. The discussion will provide valuable takeaways for anyone interested in how leadership can influence and support employee well-being and long-term career sustainability.
