FEICA

Mission Statement

FEICA is a multinational association representing the European adhesive and sealant industry. In 2020, our industry was estimated to contribute 17 billion euros to the EU economy, representing 2% of the European chemical industry’s turnover. The European adhesive and sealant industry employs 45,000 people and produces a broad range of 250,000 different products. Our industry also made a considerable investment of 470 million euros in research and innovation to support its focus on sustainable development.

With 15 national associations and 43 direct and affiliated members, FEICA represents the common interests of over 800 adhesives and sealants producers in Europe. We work with relevant stakeholders and a group of 165 highly knowledgeable experts within the various FEICA Committees and Working Groups to create a mutually beneficial economic and legislative environment. FEICA focuses on six key projects, such as Health and Safety, safe use of mixtures, and food contact, and generates an average of 85 publications a year, covering 14 different technologies and 7 end-user markets, including building and construction, paper and board, industrial assembly, and transportation.

FEICA was a partner of the 2018-2019 OSHA campaign Healthy Workplaces.

Our campaign pledge

FEICA, the Association of the European Adhesive and Sealant Industry, as an official partner of EU-OSHA’s 2023–25 Healthy Workplaces campaign, is committed to supporting “safe and healthy work in the digital age” in the adhesive and sealant sector.

FEICA has already started several activities that will be further continued in 2024 and 2025 to substantiate its pledge. Campaigns include the following examples:.
1. Development and dissemination of health and safety information packages
• FEICA has published its Use Map packages under REACH to communicate safety advice in our value chain. These are publicly available on the ECHA website: https://echa.europa.eu/csr-es-roadmap/use-maps/use-maps-library.
• FEICA offers a comprehensive training programme called “PU Training” to ensure the safe use of diisocyanates for producers and professional users of polyurethane all over Europe. All trainings can be taken online, in all EU languages, and are publicly available via https://www.feica.eu/PUinfo.
• FEICA, as a member of the Downstream Users of Chemicals Co-ordination Group (DUCC), is contributing to the development of an online training platform on the safe use of chemicals by professional users.
2. Raising awareness of EU-OSHA’s “Safe and healthy work in the digital age” priority topics
• Promoting online platforms as means of worker training towards the adhesive and sealant sector, its value chain, and authorities. Online training platforms are particularly interesting when faced with large numbers of professionals, often self-employed or employees of SMEs, working on site or remotely.
• Promoting the EU-OSHA’s “Safe and healthy work in the digital age” priority topics towards FEICA company members and the company members of FEICA’s National Associations at FEICA meetings and events.
• organising a webinar on online training towards the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025.
3. Promoting the EU-OSHA’s “Safe and healthy work in the digital age” campaign
• Using the OSHA campaign banner in FEICA email signatures when possible.
• Providing the OSHA campaign material to FEICA company members and the company members of FEICA’s National Associations.
• promoting the campaign on the FEICA public website.
• Promoting the campaign and priority topics in FEICA’s public newsletter and member communication (Extranet, Update).
