The Confederation of European Security Services (CoESS) has taken a major step toward responsible digital transformation by releasing its Charter on the Ethical and Responsible Use of AI in the European security services.

This Charter provides clear guidance for the deployment of AI across Europe’s private security sector. Developed in line with the principles of the EU AI Act, it underlines ten essential requirements to ensure AI is used safely and ethically. These include key areas such as risk management, human oversight, data governance, transparency, worker involvement, and occupational safety and health.

By championing a human-centric and rights-based approach, the Charter aims to help companies navigate complex legal frameworks while upholding the wellbeing of both workers and the public. It represents a proactive effort by CoESS to foster trust and accountability in an evolving technological landscape, aligning closely with the objectives of the current Healthy Workplaces Campaign (HWC) 2023-25 'Safe and healthy work in the digital age', in which CoESS is an official partner.

You can read the full Charter on the organisation’s website, and explore more about algorithmic management in the campaign's dedicated section
