Learning about good occupational safety and health practices in Coimbra

The rapid pace of technological advancement is reshaping how we live and work, presenting both remarkable opportunities and significant challenges. From the widespread adoption of computing to the integration of automation, digital assistants and sophisticated employee management platforms, digital technologies are transforming every industry. No sector is immune to this evolution. To address these pressing issues, an upcoming seminar hosted by our national focal point, Autoridade para as Condições do Trabalho, will focus on how to effectively manage occupational risks in this changing landscape, with an emphasis on OSH. As workplaces continue to integrate these technologies, it becomes increasingly important to focus on the human element behind the innovation. While digital solutions enhance efficiency and productivity, they also bring new concerns, particularly in the realm of OSH.

The intersection of technology and OSH is a critical area that requires careful consideration. As the digital transformation progresses, the nature of workplace risks is changing and traditional safety measures may no longer suffice. This shift calls for a holistic approach that goes beyond the technical implementation of new tools and systems. People remain at the heart of every organisation and ensuring their safety and wellbeing must remain a priority, even in a highly automated environment. By addressing both the technological and human aspects, we can create safer, healthier and more productive workplaces.

In this seminar, the aim is to showcase a series of examples that illustrate good practices in managing occupational risks in this new digital landscape. By sharing real-world case studies and expert insights, the event seeks to equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the challenges posed by the digitalisation of work. Attendees will gain valuable insights into how organisations across various sectors have successfully balanced innovation with employee safety, ensuring that occupational risks are effectively managed while embracing the future of work.

The seminar offers a platform for the community to come together, share experiences and engage in meaningful discussions about the future of occupational safety and health. It is not only about adapting to new technologies but also about fostering a culture that puts people first. Through a combination of expert presentations, practical demonstrations and interactive discussions, the event will encourage participants to think critically about how to manage the evolving risks associated with digital transformation.
