EU-OSHA’s media partner, PuntoSicuro, has recently covered Ambiente Lavoro 2025, Italy’s key annual occupational safety and health (OSH) event held in Bologna. This year’s edition put a strong spotlight on how new technologies are transforming workplace safety, aligning with the themes of the Healthy Workplaces 'Safe and healthy work in the digital age' 2023-25 Campaign.

As part of its reporting, PuntoSicuro interviewed leading national experts on the role of digital tools in risk prevention. Francesca Grosso, Head of EU-OSHA’s national focal point in Italy - INAIL (Istituto Nazionale per l'Assicurazione contro gli Infortuni sul Lavoro), highlighted how digitalisation is reshaping safety strategies and stressed the need for proactive communication about emerging risks. Alessandro Ledda, First Researcher at INAIL’s Department of Technological Innovations, showcased cutting-edge developments in smart personal protective equipment, focusing on sensor technologies that monitor worker safety in real time. Meanwhile, Damiano Bauce, an artificial intelligence (AI) expert specialising in construction site safety, shared practical examples of how AI is used onsite to spot vulnerabilities early and issue timely alerts.

These interviews were part of a broader series exploring current OSH challenges and best practices, from biomechanical strain and hazardous substances to training standards and prevention costs. PuntoSicuro’s contribution from the event provided valuable insight into how digital innovation is being applied on the ground to support safer and healthier workplaces.
