The National Institute for Safety and Health at Work (INSST) is a scientific and technical body within the State General Administration. Its functions include promoting prevention, providing technical advice, developing specific tools for micro and small enterprises, conducting research, and providing information and training on occupational risk issues. It also coordinates Public Administrations with competences on prevention matters.
With regard to European Union institutions, particularly EU-OSHA and its networks, INSST acts as the national focal point to coordinate and disseminate information at a national level. It also coordinates the Spanish OSH Network (RESST) and administers its workflow.
INSST supports the implementation of EU-OSHA's annual management plan, carrying out the tasks included in its work plan for each year. It also supports European campaigns, promoting and coordinating national events during the European Week. With regard to the Good Practice Awards, INSST promotes the competition within the national OSH network and selects the best examples at a national level.
As a tripartite network, the Spanish OSH Network (#RESST) provides input to EU-OSHA's work and disseminates products and information to national stakeholders. It also plays an important role in designing the content and objectives of the European campaign at a national level. Its members include relevant non-profit organisations and institutions, such as social partners, regional labour authorities, regional OSH institutes, national government bodies, universities, and professional and prevention expert associations.
