Discussing safe and healthy digital work in Thessaloniki during European Week

As part of the European Week for Safety and Health at Work, our Greek focal point Hellenic Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs has organised a comprehensive event to raise awareness about occupational safety and health (OSH) in the digital age and EU-OSHA’s related campaign. The event brings together employers, workers, social partners, OSH professionals, labour inspectors, human resources managers, members of the national OSH and Enterprise Europe networks, as well as academics and students.

The programme includes presentations on the current Healthy Workplaces Campaign and its priority areas, the Napo project and resources and an in-depth look at smart digital systems. Participants also have the opportunity to test virtual and augmented reality (VR and AR) simulators used for handling machinery in underground mining, an example commended in the latest Good Practice Awards.

Speakers discuss strategies to address sedentary work and related musculoskeletal disorders, as well as work-related psychosocial risks and mental health in a digitalised workplace. The event also highlights findings from EU-OSHA’s Workers’ exposure survey on cancer risk factors in Europe (WES), alongside national initiatives that support innovative approaches to OSH management in Greece.
