Als Wearables bezeichnet man kleine elektronische Geräte mit Sensoren und Rechnerkapazität (z. B. Smartwatches, Datenbrillen oder andere Geräte mit eingebetteten Sensoren oder Tags), die an verschiedenen Stellen des Körpers angebracht werden können, um Daten zu sammeln, die zur Verarbeitung in andere digitale Systeme eingespeist werden. Sie können zur Analyse physiologischer und psychischer Daten wie Emotionen, Schlaf, Bewegungen, Herzfrequenz, Körpertemperatur und Blutdruck verwendet werden, und zwar über Anwendungen, die entweder auf dem Gerät selbst oder auf externen Geräten, wie etwa mit der Cloud verbundenen Smartphones, installiert werden.
