Principles for design and development: smart digital systems for improving workers’ safety and health
Smart digital systems can help improve occupational safety and health (OSH), but workers need to be on board when they are introduced. This policy brief outlines eight key principles for developing smart digital systems.
The principles aim to ensure the systems address real-world OSH challenges and support safer workplaces. From the outset, they cover customising system design, ensuring compatibility and integration. Other key elements include safeguarding data security and privacy, scalability, reliability, user friendliness and manufacturer–implementer collaboration.
