Collaborative robot that automates sewing of bags in automotive supplier industry (ID5)

An automotive supplier operating on a global scale has introduced automated processes to their operations in Portugal, using robots, cobots and AGVs to carry out a range of labours.

Rather than eliminate jobs, this has expedited or facilitated tasks and reduced social isolation in the workplace since workers rotate stations more frequently and thus have increased interaction with colleagues.

As workers reskill and acquire specialised training, this is an opportunity to assess which skills are to be considered important for the future of work and which are becoming less relevant.
